Apple Highlights Artificial Intelligence at Annual Developer Conference

Apple recently unveiled the schedule for its highly anticipated Annual Developer Conference, set to kick off on June 10. Expectations are high, especially as the company has promised a deep dive into artificial intelligence (AI) strategies.

While Apple has kept the exact details of what will be revealed under wraps – a common practice for the company – sources close to the matter told MacDailyNews that the primary emphasis will be on AI.

Apple already integrates AI into its products, but so far, it has focused on more traditional forms of AI, without fully embracing generative artificial intelligence, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini AI chatbots. However, this may be about to change as the company has invested significantly in developing products for this sector.

Internally, Apple has developed its own language model framework, dubbed Ajax, and a chatbot known as Apple GPT. Although they have not yet been incorporated into flagship products, they demonstrate the company’s ongoing commitment to AI evolution.

In a move to further boost its AI capabilities, Apple is reportedly in negotiations with tech giants such as Google, OpenAI, or Anthropic (or Baidu in China) to power its cloud-based AI capabilities. However, some concerns about Apple being “too late” in the AI race have been raised by investors.

Apple CEO Tim Cook recently emphasized the company’s commitment to AI, mentioning an AI-related announcement coming “later this year.” Many experts and market analysts speculate that this announcement will come during the Worldwide Developers Conference.

In addition to the AI spotlight, Apple is expected to unveil its next software updates for a range of devices, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro headset, and Apple Watch. The new AI strategy, which is likely to be at the forefront of the planned iOS 18 update, is also expected to be a focal point of the event.

Commenting on the June event, Apple’s marketing executive Greg Joswiak expressed excitement, stating that “It’s going to be absolutely amazing.”
